Tallahassee is certainly fast-forwarding in the march to achieve culinary coolness with the opening of its third Indian Restaurant, The Curry Pot. I was definitely excited to find that it is not necessary to cruise all the way down to the Parkway to find one of our favorite foods. Located in the old Anthony's spot, The Curry Pot is chock full of ambiance, from the wall decorations to the ethnic piped sounds. My favorite though is that it is so hyggelit! (Those of you who speak Danish will know what that means. For those of you that don't, well it means....so much more than cosy.)

Loved the menu.... well to be specific, loved the AYCE poppadoms and condiments (Indian, of course). Sort of like an Indian chips and salsa! I tried the lamb rogan josh - yum, yum, one of my all time favorites, and I snagged some of hubby's chicken tikka masala. Both were VERY nice. On a subsequent visit tried the lamb korma, some vegetarian thing or other, and a very nice spinach dish. There is a super-wide selection on the menu, and being as how I frequent Manchester, England a lot I am somewhat of an expert on how it should look and taste.

On a cautionary note, the spiciness of the food is variable. One day my "medium" was HOT, HOT, HOT! Spicy, fabulously HOT. The next visit itwas - medium! So do order on the conservative side and/or check out the chef's mood before ordering unless you have an asbestos mouth. Personally I have never encountered "too hot" but I think I am in the minority.

Prices are oh-so-slightly on the high side, but once you factor in the AYCE poppadoms it works out about average cost-wise.

They also have a full bar upstairs which I didn't visit on account of having to drive home.

Overall this restaurant is now high on my list of favorites. They seem to have got all their bases covered AND serve good food. Definitely worth a visit if you like "Indian".
